Wrestlers Wrap Up Season At State Championship
UDATE (3/9/2025) – Congratulations to the Perkins High School Wrestling team. On Sunday, the team concluded its season in fine fashion – winning 3rd in the state.
Eli Sanchez made it to the Championship Round and took home the Runners-Up. Meanwhile, wrestlers Haiden Bollini, Sawyer Smith, and Braxden Martin all placed 4th. Law Davlin also was a state qualifier.
UPDATE (2/23/2025) – The PHS Wrestling team won its 11th straight Sectional title on Saturday in Galion. Ten Pirate wrestlers advanced to the District Tournament, while Sawyer Smith won his 150th career match.
Champion wrestlers were Marco Muratori, Braxden Martin, Law Davlin, and Haiden Bollini. Finishing in 2nd place were Eli Sanchez and Sawyer Smith; finishing in 3rd were Rajon Randleman and Landon Flores; in 4th place Jaycion Everett and Deshaun Harper; and in 6th place Sam Oprzadek.
UPDATE (2/21/2025) – PHS Swimmers (and siblings) Sam and Ella West each made it into the Finals at the Ohio Swimming Championships on Friday. Ella placed 15th in the 100 breaststroke. Meanwhile, Sam finished 5th in the 100 backstroke and 4th in the 50 free.
Earlier on Friday, the Girls Bowling team wrapped up its season at the District meet in Rossford. For PHS, Olivia Lizzi finished in 6th place and the team finished in 8th place overall.
UPDATE (2/20/2025) – The PHS Boys Basketball won its sectional championship game against Port Clinton on Thursday, 87-46. It's the team's first Sectional Championship since 2017. The team will meet Napoleon in a district semifinal game at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Oregon Clay High School.
Earlier in the day, PHS Boys bowler Hunter Johnson competed in the District Boys Bowling tournament.
UPDATE (2/19/2025) – Our Lady Pirates Basketball team's season came to an end tonight. The Pirates lost, 35-60, in the District Semifinal matchup with Bellevue. Congrats on a great season.
UPDATE (2/19/2025) – Congratulations to PHS freshman diver Amiya Drury.
Amiya finished in 12th place at the Div. II OHSAA State Diving Championship meet.
UPDATE (2/15/2025) – Congratulations to the PHS Wrestling team on its 3-peat SBC Championship on Saturday in Norwalk.
Sawyer Smith (126-pound class), Haiden Bollini (215-pound class) and Eli Sanchez (285-pound class) each won individual titles for the Pirates.
UPDATE (2/14/2025) – Congratulations to the PHS Swim team. On Friday, they were in Bowling Green for District competition.
Girls swimmers Katie Skavnak, Ella West, Natalie Mitchel, and Jasele Ninke, and Boys swimmer Sam West qualified for the State Championship meet on Thursday in Canton. Alternate Girls Swimmers are Sam Green and Lauren Bucher.

UPDATE (2/14/2025) – Congratulations to our PHS Girls Bowling Team – 2025 Sectional Champions
After a one-day delay due to icy roads, our Pirates rolled into Port Clinton and took care of business.
The Pirates were led by Olivia Lizzi, who threw a 602 over three games and had the best individual score, and Oliviana Coffman, who had a 502 over three games and was fourth overall. The team will be in the District tournament on Friday, February 21, at Interstate Lanes in Rossford.

UPDATE (2/13/2025) – Congratulations to our PHS Girls Basketball team. The Pirates defeated Vermilion, 80-71, in a battle that went to overtime for the Div IV Sectional title..
Next up, the PHS Girls faces Bellevue in a District Semifinal contest in Bucyrus. The game is at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19.
It's that time again – our Pirates from multiple sports are back in the state playoffs.
Earlier this week, three of our Divers – Amiya Drury, Taylor Williams, and Paige Schnittker – participated in District competition. Amiya, a freshman, qualified for the State meet.

On Friday, our Swim team will head to Bowling Green State University for District competition. The District qualifiers are: Katie Skavnak, Elia Hahn, Ella West, Natalie Mitchel, Jasele Ninke, Lo Bucher, Mackenzie Gibson, Sam Green, Cameron Frisch, Preston Miller, Shivan Brunning O'Malley, Max Zess, Jackson Crabtree, Michael Spencer, and Sam West.
On Wednesday, our Boys Bowling team participated in the Sectional Tournament. The team of Hunter Johnson, Jaresin Griffith, Kaleb Towner, Rocco Speer, Tucker Deering, and Eli Shearn, finished 6th as a team.
Leading the team and advancing to Districts next week was freshman Hunter Johnson, with games of 197 and 205. Hunter finished 6th overall, out of 74 bowlers, and will represent PHS next Thursday at Interstate Lanes in Rossford.
On Friday, the Girls Bowlers will be in Port Clinton for their District tournament. (That tournament was rescheduled from Thursday due to the weather.)
At 7 p.m. tonight, our PHS Girls Basketball team will host Vermilion in the Sectional Championship game.
The Boys Basketball team, meantime, will host a Sectional Championship game next Thursday, February 20, at PHS.
And, lastly, the PHS Wrestling team placed 6th at the State Duals Meet on Saturday. Wrestlers Eli Sanchez and Braxden Martin went 3-0 on the day, and wrestler Haiden Bollini won his 100th career match vs West Holmes.
The PHS wrestlers are back in action on Saturday at the SBC Championship meet in Norwalk.
