PHS Senior Wins Gold Key, American Vision Honors In Scholastic Art Competition

Nine Perkins High School artists have been honored in the 2025-2026 Scholastic Art Awards contest. 

Among them, senior Elia Hahn won a Gold Key for her “Radiant Soul” sculpture. Elia is among five artists in the region (Erie, Huron, and Lorain counties) to be honored with an American Vision award. One of those five pieces will be considered for an American Vision Medal by a jury of national judges.

Elia also won an Honorable Mention for her “Caged In Insecurity” sculpture.

Senior Shivan Brunning O'Malley won a Silver Key for his painting “Evening Lake.”

Also winning Honorable Mention recognition are:

Sophomore Dominic Barrett for “The Scratched Eagle”
Freshman Salome Bautista-Almansa for “Inside My Mind” and “Winter Under The Lavender Sky”
Sophomore Maycee Bohn won for ”Mystic Moon”
Sophomore Skyler Cahlik won for “Sea Of Reflections”
Senior Mateusz Dixon for “Mount Fuji”
Senior Anna Ferback for “Where Comfort Lives”
Senior Asher Raab for “The Phone Call,” “Eternity,” and “Alcoholic Paranoia”

The students’ artwork will be included in a show at the Lorain County Community College’s Stocker Arts Center from January 12 to February 10. An Opening Reception for the artists will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, and a Gold Key Ceremony will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 1.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, founded in 1923, are the nation’s longest-running recognition program for creative teenagers.
