PHS Earns Spot On Advanced Placement Honor Roll

Perkins High School has been named to the 2025 Advanced Placement AP School Honor Roll and earned a Bronze recognition from the College Board.

The AP School Honor Roll, announced each year by the College Board, highlights schools whose AP programs expand access and help students succeed. According to Trevor Packer, Head of the AP Program, “AP allows students to engage with college-level work, earn college credit placement, and build professional career skills they can use no matter what path they choose after high school.”

The AP School Honor Roll features four levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Perkins High School’s Bronze designation places it among 5,700 schools that earned this distinction. Of the 579 qualifying Ohio schools, 28% earned a place on the 2025 AP School Honor Roll.

For the Class of 2025, Perkins High School met or exceeded all College Board benchmarks required for Bronze status:

  • 48 percent of seniors took at least one AP exam (College Culture–Bronze)
  • 32 percent earned a score of 3 or higher on an AP exam (College Credit–Silver)
  • 5 percent completed five or more AP exams, including at least one taken in 9th or 10th grade (College Optimization–Silver)

PHS Principal Jeff Harbal said, “Our teachers do an outstanding job preparing students for college and career readiness, and one of those components is AP coursework. Perkins High School offers 13 Advanced Placement courses for students in various academic disciplines. We are proud to receive this distinction.”
