The Perkins Local School District Board of Education on Wednesday hired Drew Crabtree as PHS's new varsity wrestling coach and Chris Harkness as the new varsity girls basketball coach.
Coach Crabtree is the son of long-time wrestling coach Travis Crabtree, who stepped down from the position earlier this month. The younger Coach Crabtree has been an assistant coach under his father since the 2019-2020 wrestling season. He is also an intervention specialist at Furry Elementary.
"Thank you for this opportunity," Coach Crabtree told Board members on Wednesday. "This has been a 6-year dream to be head of this program."
Coach Harkness was hired as head coach of the Varsity Girls Basketball program. He has been an assistant coach in the program since 2024 and previously served as an assistant Girls Basketball coach at Norwalk High School.
Coach Harkness takes over the program after former head Coach Leia Lyden stepped down in March.
