Perkins High School has a new mascot.
PHS sophomore Rocco Speer led the effort to get the new outfit, which was purchased with funding from the Perkins Athletics Booster Club and the Perkins Athletics Department. The outfit replaces a costume the school had for approximately 20 years.
The new pirate mascot is made of soft material and features a battery-powered fan and ice vest to keep the person wearing it cool on warm days.
The pirate will debut at the football celebrations on Friday, December 13, and Saturday, December 14.
PHS is hosting a contest among students and staff to name the new pirate.
