Coach Crabtree Steps Down As Varsity Wrestling Coach

Varsity Wrestling Coach Travis Crabtree announced on Tuesday, March 31, that he will step down as Head Coach of the Perkins High School wrestling program.

Coach Crabtree was the second longest tenured coach among our current coaching staff at Perkins High School.

During his 25 years as Perkins Head Coach, Coach Crabtree compiled a 333-113 dual record, coached three national champions, 11 All-Americans, 23 Academic All-Ohio recipients, three state champions, 38 state placers, 88 state qualifiers while having 59 individual SBC Champions and nine SBC Team Championships. He also led the team to a 28-0 dual record vs. rival Sandusky.

“We are grateful for Coach Crabtree’s commitment and the positive impact he has had on our wrestling program,” said Brad Watson, Athletic Director at Perkins High School. “He has developed our student-athletes and made a strong impact in not just their athletic careers, but their lives. We are thankful for his time as Head Coach at Perkins and will utilize his knowledge and expertise while he continues to teach at PHS.”

Perkins Local Schools will begin the process of identifying the next head wrestling coach in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, the Athletic Department and Perkins Local School District thanked Coach Crabtree for his dedication to the program and many years of service to our student-athletes and community.
